FAQ

Why should I purchase your wall panels? What materials are they made from? Is it safe?

Our innovative wall panels are a highly durable and environmentally sustainable alternative to standard wall panels currently on the market. The boards areĀ  produced with cutting-edge technology which allows it to mimic a variety of natural materials such asĀ metal, marble, stone, fabric, mirrors and woodĀ with astonishing accuracy at a fraction of the cost.

Our Bamboo substrate WPC (Wood Plastic Composite) panels are made from natural wood and plastic fiber blends. Their all natural, safe and eco-conscious ingredients include bamboo, sawdust, pulp, peanut shells, and unused woodworking materials that are combined with PVC (plastic powder) to form solid WPC boards.

In the same way, our SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) panels are made from combining natural limestone powder and PVC plasticĀ  and stabilizers. This combination gives our wall panels rigidity, strength and durability which not only make them eco-friendly and cost effective but also maintains the desired design aesthetic and product quality of traditional wall panels.

Our panels are completely odorless, mold-resistant and free from all toxin emissions including Formaldehyde. Environmental Protection grade: ENF.

What are the dimensions/sizes/thickness of the boards?

The standard dimension for each wall board in stock is 4ft x 8ft. For made to order boards the length can be extended to 8.5ft/9ft/10ft. The width of the boards can also be extended but this is only achievable with larger bulk orders.Ā

The thickness of the wall boards are 5mm and 8mm.Ā

What is the strength of WPC and SPC panels in comparison to natural wood and marble?

The wood-plastic and stone-plastic composite cores of our boards make them obtain several beneficial features that regular wall panels on the market do not. Our boards are designed to be more rigid and durable than traditional wall boards. In addition, they are not only water resistant, flame retardant, insect resistant, bendable, versatile, and scratch resistant, they also exhibit humidity stability, UV stability, alkali and acid resistance as well as anti-aging capabilities from sunlight.

Are the boards easy to cut/bend? What tools should I use?

Our wall panels are easy to cut and bend with the use of various tools for convenience. We recommend a table saw, utility knife or handled circular saw. For more information see our installation guide.

What surfaces can the boards be installed on? What is the process of adhering the boards to the surfaces?

They can be applied to a wide variety of flat or curved surfaces, including gypsum board (also known as drywall), wood, metal, concrete, and others. To ensure a secured installation, ensure the base wall surface is clean and free of bumps.

What texture is the surface of the boards? Are they smooth or rough? Do they feel like natural wood/marble/fabric/metal?

Thanks to cutting-edge technology used in the design of our wall boards, they offer a natural and authentic appearance. The surface texture and roughness mimic their natural counterparts almost identically which positively influences the design aesthetic and appeal after installation.Ā

In the context of our wood grain collection, the wall board surfaces look and feel just like natural finished wood surfaces. In the same way, the stone collection feels exactly as matte stone finished surfacing. The marble collection offers a smoother surface, often preferred for sleek, polished finishes. The metal and fabric collection offer natural appearances with a delicate and detailed texture that also identically mimic their natural counterparts.

How do I handle the seams of the boards?

We offer 4 options for the seams and connecting wall panels. Grouting, U-groove slotted splicing, seamless tight slotted splicing, and metal profile line slotted splicing. Please note, U-groove and seamless tight slotted splicing are only available with made-to-order purchases and come with a minimum order (contact sales@wall-aesthetics.com for more information).Ā

The metal profile slotted splicing makes use of metal trimming which is highly recommended as they serve both functional and aesthetic purposes in the installation of your wall paneling, providing edge protection, polished finishing, structural support, and also providing smooth transitions between different materials or surfaces such as between wall panelling and ceiling or flooring.Ā

See our installation guide and metal trimming collection for more information.Ā

How should I handle the corners?

To properly finish the corners of your wall panelling installation, you can utilize grouting or corner metal trims to create a neat junction.Ā See the ā€˜L borderā€™, ā€˜binding off lineā€™, ā€˜binding off line light bordersā€™ and ā€˜outside the lineā€™ options in our Metal Trimmings collection.Ā

What should I do if the panels installed on the walls need to touch the floors and ceiling?

We recommend the use of a metal reveal such as our ā€˜binding off lineā€™ or ā€˜binding off line light bordersā€™ (see Metal Trimming Collection). This creates a visually appealing transition and maintains a clean and professional appearance between the wall panels and the adjacent surfaces.

What adhesive should I use?

We recommend using construction adhesive. Specific brands are Loctite Power Grab Molding and Panelling Construction Adhesive, Liquid Nails Panelling and Molding Adhesive or mastic adhesive such as Acryl Pro Ceramic Tile Adhesive.

Are the panels suitable for outdoor use?

Although our panels exhibit sufficient capabilities that are able to exist in most indoor weather conditions, we do not recommend outdoor installation with our existing product line. We are currently developing an outdoor collection that will be launched on our website soon. Watch this space!

How well do the panels withstand weather conditions? Will the color fade overtime?

The wall panels do not deform easily and are less prone to expansion or contraction with temperature changes. Thus they can withstand in both hot and cold weather exposure and also remain stable in humid conditions. Unlike natural wood panels that easily damage due to heat expansion, shrinkage caused by cooler temperatures and may even swell or warp from retaining moisture in humid conditions.

Our panels have anti-aging capabilities from sunlight exposure which means there will be little to no visible fading overtime. They are also designed to withstand high-traffic areas such as public vicinities, foyers, lobbies, salons, hotels, offices and clubs. They are easy to clean and require little to no maintenance. They also enjoy a lifetime of well over 10 years and up to 20 years and more.

Can I apply it to shower walls or sauna rooms?

Our wall panels are highly water-resistant and can effectively withstand moisture, humidity and the occasional exposure to water. However, they are not entirely waterproof. They are suitable for installation in areas prone to moisture, such as bathrooms and kitchens but they may be more susceptible to damage if subjected to prolonged or excessive moisture such as inside showers or sauna rooms.Ā

Can I apply the panels on curved walls and pillars?

Yes, our products are highly bendable allowing for application on curved arc-shaped wall designs and pillars. Our boards can be grooved at 90 degree angles through the use of a trimming machine on the back of the board and wrapped around a right angle column. Heating the panels with hot air guns can be used to bend the panels at will for installing on curved walls and rounded pillars.

Can it be used on a fireplace wall?

Our panels are chemically treated to slow the spread of fire when exposed to it and to also self-extinguish. However, they should not be installed on walls that come in direct contact to open flames.

Can it be applied to ceilings or roofs?

Yes our boards can be applied to ceilings as long as the surface to which it is being applied is clean and has no bumps. However, it is not recommended for use on roofs.

Can it be used for flooring?

While our product is adequately durable, it is not suitable for flooring. However, it is ideal for indoor decorative applications where its unique texture can be highlighted without the worry of heavy foot traffic.

Can it be used on kitchen countertops? Or on furniture and Cabinetry?

We do not recommend our product for heavy-use areas like kitchen countertops. However, it is well-suited for decorative tabletop surfaces such as bar tops and reception lobby desks that are not used for food preparation. Additionally, it is ideal for furniture and cabinetry. Its ease of cutting and adhering allows you to create unique furniture pieces and enhance your cabinetry with an appealing design aesthetic.
